Robert Larin - Description
Robert Larin is known as a Canadian designer of Brutalist costume jewelry. His workshop was established in the late 1960s and employed mainly deaf workers. Larin’s studio is known for its extensive use of pewter. The jewelry made by this firm is now considered to be collectible, with larger necklaces being valued the highest among jewelry enthusiasts.
Larin’s business used the lost casting process to create pewter jewelry. After they were cast, each piece was hand smoothed with a file. Finishes added to the pieces included oxidation to add dark shading and contrast to the pewter, although many were plated with gold or silver. Each piece was hand polished after being plated.
